Flashback Friday

Kassie's 12th Birthday
Mall Scavenger Hunt
Saturday, September 13, 2008

I honestly can't believe that it's the first week of September already. The kids have been back in school for almost a month. I also can't believe that I have counted down Kai's birthdays every Friday for the past 12 weeks. Next Friday, will be her 13th Birthday! Unbelievable....I will have a teenager at home.

Last year her party was a lot of fun. I didn't plan it months in advance. I literally threw it together really fast. We did a Mall Scavenger Hunt Party. Looking back at the blog post I didn't really give to many details.

First off, the kids all met outside of California Pizza Kitchen. I had a bag with black, orange, and pink jellie bracelets. Each kid pulled a bracelet from the bag, depending on the color they drew, that is the team they were on. I had three clip boards, one per team. Each clipboard had the same instructions, but scrambled up. That way each team would not run into each other. I bought Westcor gift cards for each team. There was $50 on each card. All teams had to go to Fuzziwigs and each player had to make their own candy bags, and not go over $3.00. Then, they all had to go to Claire's and each pick out a an item that was $4 or less. That would be their party favor.

Each team had to go to Build A Bear. I had pre-paid the Halloween bear and one team got to stuff it, the other team got to pick out an outfit for it, and the other team picked a name and did the story option for the bear. When it was all done, that ended up being one of Kai's presents. Buddy and I bought Kai some stuff at Nordstrom for her birthday. Julia, one of the ladies in the kids department boxed the gifts in three different packages. She marked each box. One A one B and the last C. Each team had to go there and get one of the packages. They had a good time. I did have rules, and each team followed them very well. They were not allowed to run or interrupt employees if they were with customers. They were patient, and in the end, they all came back with their lists all crossed off. We finished the evening with dinner and cake. It turned out well, considering the last minute planning.

vous êtes conviés

Here are pictures of the invitations for Kassie's 13th Birthday party. I had so much fun making them. Hum...maybe because I used my three favorite colors, maybe because I like to make invitations, or maybe it's just because I LOVE to plan parties. Either way, here is a sneak peak. Sorry the pictures are so bad, my camera is dead and I used my phone.

My life through my iPhone 2

Part II of "My life through my iPhone.                    Saturday was the Marcos De Niza Homecoming!  Kassie and Aaron had a blast!  I was able to finish Kassie's ballroom shoes on Sunday. It was spirit week for Corona del Sol and on Monday it was TV character day.  She dressed as Blaire Waldorf from Gossip Girl.  Corona had a bon fire on Thursday, and the Pommies performed a hip hop routine.  Here is a picture I stole from Instagram. On Saturday evening, the kids decided to carve pumpkins.  Here is Nachito and Chanel getting ready to carve. Kassie and her friend Amanda did some carving too!  These may not be great posts, but it's a start.

Just how long has it been? A long, long time....

Not so much of a Blogaholic. I almost feel the need to change the name of my poor little blog. It has sat here deserted with no updates and no pictures. I think about it everyday, yet I can't seem to find the time to come back to it. My intention for my blog was to document so much of our days and lives. And yet, I have let months go by without one little entry. There is no way my mind can remember everything that has happened since my last post. So much missed. The majority of Kai's 8th grade year, and the majority of Nachito's 5th grade year. Not to mention how many holidays and important events I have missed. Trips and of course Birthday parties. Somehow I need to find the time to record these events, and even if I have to back date them, I will document them at some point. This week is a tough school week for the kids. AIMS testing for both of them. Today they both felt very good about how they did. Nothing much has changed in Kai's world. She still dances, still c...
